Page 4 – Bridge End and the Dock, Robin Hood's Bay

THESE TWO AREAS of Baytown feature repeatedly in both paintings and early postcards, permitting comparisons of Ulric's artistic styles and preferences over several decades. The view from Bridge End of cottages along the Beck is also the subject of a large and finely worked oil painting from 1900 (not shown here), which predates the 1905 postcard and represents the earliest known painting of Baytown by Ulric, as also the the earliest instance of his first trademark signature in its fully developed form (see Introduction).
